Pagan Camp 2005
Blackland Lakes campsite and nature reserved played host to the second Pagan Camp held in September 2005. With a private paddock reserved just for us, a more central location for those travelling long distances, and close proximity to sites such as Avebury and Silbury Hill, the campsite proved widely popular.
With over eighty guests attending, the camp hosted a larger stall area than the previous year and was followed by a trip to nearby Avebury.
“Thanks to everyone for just being there, and the many people
who were strangers when we arrived and friends when we left.”
Celestine Alteryus
We were again blessed with hot sunny weather and clear skies. When we arrived on the Friday we began to plan the layout of the field, moving picnic benches to create an informal communal area in the centre. As stall owners began to arrive we created a 'stall area' at one end of the field, with access to electric hook-up points.
Guests continued arriving throughout the afternoon and evening, including many faces from last year, and even more new ones. With over eighty guests attending the edges of the field soon filled up and campers found themselves having to pitch their tents closer to the centre of the field.
“I had a lovely relaxing time and joined in my first ever blessing/ritual.
My non-pagan friends had a good time too.”
Witchone
Activities included a talk on connecting with the natural world, guided meditations, an incense workshop, crystal meditations, a debate, a ritual, a quiz, communal soup and healing.
